Our Testimony and Calling

Tammy and I were both saved, by the grace of God, early in our lives. Tammy was six years old and I was eight. God showed us at different times and in different ways our great need for a Savior. Tammy was saved on a Sunday morning after the invitation was given during children’s church at Oakwood Baptist Church. She realized that she was a sinner and in need of forgiveness. After being counseled by one of the adults, Tammy asked the Lord to come into her heart and to save her. I was saved through the testimony of my praying, godly mother. One night after having devotions with my mother, I lay in bed thinking about my awful sin and what Christ had done on the cross to pay for my sin. I asked God to forgive me and placed my faith in the shed blood of Jesus. This was the one greatest decision either of us ever made!

As I grew up my mother continually emphasized the importance of missions to her children. I remember reading "Through Gates of Splendor" and being deeply affected by the great sacrifice made by these young missionaries. Even before I reached my teenage years I understood the great need for missionary service and began to pray and give special offerings toward missions. At the age of fifteen God dealt with me during a summer youth camp about serving Him as a full-time missionary. Even though I went forward and prayed I realize now that I was not prepared to give up my dreams and ambitions. In the years that followed I began to backslide away from this commitment and my love for the Lord became cold. Tammy and I met when I transferred to Oakwood Christian School in our home town of Anderson, SC. We were married in March of 1996 after graduating from Clemson University. Early in our marriage, I tried to find satisfaction in my family, work and material things, but instead of peace I found unhappiness, unrest and anger. God had called me to serve Him and place everything in His control and until I surrendered all to Him there would be no peace.

In February of 2004, during a preacher’s fellowship at Temple Baptist Church in Anderson, S.C., the Holy Spirit placed a burden for missions on my heart. That day I surrendered everything to Him and committed to serve Him wherever He would have us go.

Our Vision

It has been said that a vision man can grasp and accomplish is only as big as that man, but a God-sized vision can only be accomplished by God. God has placed a burden on our family to reach the "uttermost" with the gospel of Jesus Christ in our generation. We believe that this generation has more opportunity and resources to spread the good news, than any time in history. And yet with all of these blessing there are still whole countries with not one gospel preaching church! There are still 3.5 billion people without the completed Bible in their language. We are committed to seeing the Great Commission completed in this generation, no matter what the cost. God has certainly given us a God-sized vision that we cannot, and dare not, attempt with out Him.

Our Method

To train men (the messengers) to take the gospel (the message) into the uttermost (the commission) through indigenous, autonomous, independent church planting, working through specific language groups. God has burdened our family specifically for work among French speaking peoples. We believe in, and use permanent gospel teams in our church planting efforts. We believe in training national pastors to continue the work of perfecting and equipping the church, and leaving the work in their hands. We are committed to use our every resource to reach all nations, tribes and tongues.
